Oxalic Acid Gas Evaporator for Bees – Portable, Flame-Operated Mite Treatment

No need for electricity to rid your hive of Varroa mites. With the Oxalic Acid Gas Evaporator for Bees, you can have a convenient, portable way to treat bees that runs on gas and allows for treatments in the field or across multiple hives. As it is made from stainless steel, this product ensures consistent heating for appropriate sublimation of oxalic acid, an effective treatment when bees are broodless, and a simple way to keep your colonies safe.

Features and Benefits

  • Electricity-Free Treatment – Operated by a gas torch (not included), it's great for field or off-grid use.

  • Even Heat – Made from stainless steel for controlled application so oxalic acid does not overheat

  • Mite Treatment – Vapourized oxalic acid that escapes the product can successfully coat bees and the inside of the hive without killing them but rather Varroa mites.

  • Portable & Practical – Weighs only 600g and is easy to use—great for backyard and commercial beekeeping alike

  • Durable & Reusable – Made to last through treatment after treatment with minimal upkeep

What's Included?

  • 1 × Oxalic Acid Gas Evaporator (stainless steel)

  • 2 × measuring spoons (4 g and 6 g)

  • 5 × Replaceable gaskets

NOTE: Gas torch not included.

How to Use

  1. Add Oxalic Acid: With the dosing spoon, add oxalic acid powder into the cooled vaporiser pan.

  2. Turn On Gas Torch: Light your gas burner and turn it to the lowest flame. Do not put excess flame on any part of the product. Allow it to warm up, as it will not get too hot too quickly.

  3. Wait For Vapour: Within seconds and with the appropriate temperature, you will start to see white vapour as oxalic acid vaporises.

  4. Treat Colony: Insert the heated end into the entrance of the hive so vapour can disperse inside the hive.

During sublimation, the vapour coats the hive and bees in a crystal formation that is not lethal to bees but is to Varroa mites.

When & How Often To Apply

  • A dose of approximately 4 g per colony

  • Repeat every 5 to 7 days as necessary

  • Best during broodless months (typically in late autumn or winter)

  • For blocked pipes from overheating, apply heat from a flame onto the exterior casing to release.

Safety Information

  • Always wear respiratory protective equipment (PPE) when applying this product.

  • Do NOT use when there is open brood inside of the hive.

  • Ensure that if you're treating in an enclosed area, there's adequate ventilation.

Who Should Use It?

  • Beekeepers with medium to large apiaries

  • Off-grid apiaries where electricity is not available

  • Enclosed treatment during the winter or broodless months
